How to Style the Perfect Bar Cart

Before you know it, it will be New Year’s Eve. Having a well-stocked bar cart with all the essentials will not only make things easier, but it will impress your guests—even after the party is over! Here are my tips for a bar cart that’s totally trendy and totally you!

Collect Your Booze

Liquor, the most important part! If your friends are anything like mine, you will need a variety of options. Wine, whiskey, prosecco, etc., whatever floats your boat. If you have an excess of liquor or wine, select only the prettiest bottles to put on display and store the rest in the pantry. It’s not necessary to fill every inch of the cart—focus on the essentials. Elevate your style by switching out a couple of the bottles for a classic decanter (very Mad Men-Esque).

Mix it Up

When I’m entertaining I like to offer a signature drink for the night. Cointreau, vermouth, juice, soda, and bitters are always good to have on hand for making a killer cocktail that will wow your friends.

Tools of the Trade

Want to look like a seasoned mixologist? These are a couple of essential tools that will make you look like a pro: cocktail shaker, strainer, bar spoon, muddler, etc. Style with an ice bucket, coasters, and some decorative cocktail napkins for a splash of color.

Stylish Glassware

Now that you have the ingredients, it’s time to shake em’ up and serve! Switch up the glassware, depending on the type of drinks you will be serving. Champagne glasses are ideal for celebrating the New Year, while a shiny set of copper mugs is a must-have for a crowd favorite…Moscow Mule.

Decor

Now for the fun part. Show off your personality and style by decorating your cart: mix different textures, colors, and materials to create dimension and interest. Keep in mind less is more and achieve a designer look by keeping your cart clear of clutter. I added lemons for a splash of color and a faux plant to bring life and height to my cart. I store paper straws in a fun silver pineapple canister, display my glasses on a serving tray, and added a light-up “love” marquee sign. With these quick and easy styling tips, you are sure to be the hostess with the mostest! Now all that’s left to do is throw a party with your beautifully styled bar cart! Cheers!
