The Most Instagrammable Places in Marrakech, Morocco

Visiting Morocco has always been number one on my bucket list, and it did not disappoint! With its rich history, vibrant colors, and stunning architecture, Marrakech is a paradise for photographers and adventure seekers. If you’re looking for the most Instagram-worthy spots in Marrakech, this guide is for you!

Jardin Majorelle

This gorgeous and exotic garden was created by the artist Jacques Majorelle. The vibrant blue walls were so distinct against the lush landscape that the color later became known as ‘Majorelle Blue.’ In 1980, Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé purchased and restored the property. Today, the garden and villa complex is open to the public.

Marrakech Market (Souk)

Wander the narrow lanes of the Old City and shop the markets. You can find unique souvenirs and beautiful handcrafted items like rugs, pottery, and jewelry. Be ready to haggle and set aside enough time to get lost, as it is like a giant labyrinth. Exploring the market was the highlight of our trip!

La Mamounia

This 5-star luxury palace hotel is the place to go if you want to experience living like Moroccan royalty. La Mamounia has welcomed rich and famous guests such as Winston Churchill, Elton John, and the Beckham family. It’s no wonder it has become one of the most Instagrammable hotels in Marrakech. The most famous photo spots are the indoor pool and the corridor/room lined with gorgeous black and white columns. Note that you will either need to be a guest or book a stay at the spa to grant access to these areas.

Royal Mansour

Royal Mansour is another hotel where A-list celebrities and royalty stay. But the real star of the show was the spa. Bathed in sunlight, surrounded by lace-inspired metalwork, this dreamy fairytale-like spa took my breath away.

Le Jardin Secret

In the middle of the medina, we discovered Le Jardin Secret. This well-hidden garden is a great way to break from the hustle and bustle of the busy market streets. This tranquil oasis features lemon trees, cacti, water fountains, and beautiful tilework. I recommend you visit early in the morning to escape the crowds.

Nomad Rooftop

This trendy restaurant has become very popular amongst the social media crowd. The modern-esque rooftop has a fantastic view of the Atlas Mountains on one side and the souks on the other, and it only gets better as the sun goes down. I highly recommend the almond flour Cardamom Ginger Orange cake with caramelized orange zest and vanilla ice cream.

Naranj rooftop

Naranj was my favorite restaurant that we ate at in Marrakech. It has a Lebanese/Syrian-inspired menu and is the perfect lunch spot! Every dish that we had was delicious. Their rooftop terrace has a hipster vibe and overlooks the medina. I recommend the signature mezze plate as an appetizer and, for the main course, the fatet batinjane.

Riads

If you want a truly Moroccan experience, I highly recommend staying in a riad instead of a hotel. Riads are Moroccan houses with an open courtyard and a few private rooms within the old medina. We stayed at AnaYela, which is a small, 300-year-old city palace. When we first arrived, I teared up as I took in the beauty of this extraordinary riad. It was like living in a palace fit for Aladdin, from the courtyard to the “flying” carpet on the rooftop.

Sunset Camel Ride in the Agafay Desert

If you don’t have time to visit the Sahara desert, don’t worry, you can still have your camel riding experience just a short car ride away. We opted for a sunset camel ride that ended with a romantic private dinner under the stars. We rode our camels and had views of the Atlas mountains and the endless desert. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
