Potty Training Must Haves

So you’re ready to potty train! Removing the diaper and letting your little one run freely around your beautiful home may seem scary. But trust me, you got this, mama. To help you get through this literal shit show, I compiled a list of everything you will need for the next three days, and you can get everything off Amazon! It will take a lot of patience, stamina, and paper towels, but by the 4th day, you’re no longer living a life of diapers.

+ Potty Training Book: I loosely followed this book. The author puts together an easy step-by-step plan and gives you troubleshooting scenarios.

+ Potty Training Seat: We love this potty seat! It’s easy to clean, cheap and stays in place.

+ Step Stool: This stool has a non-slip bottom and is contoured to fit around toilet bases. We also used it at the bathroom sink for washing hands afterward.

+ Disinfecting Spray: Because you and your home will be covered in pee.

+ Juice: You want to give your toddler many opportunities to pee during this process, so getting their bladders full is key. You will continuously ask if they need to use the potty throughout the day. My daughter won’t chug water, but these cute juice bottles enticed her to drink a lot. Plus, there is no added sugar, and they are spill-proof!

+ Toys: I rewarded the first few pees and poops with cheap toys

+ Treats/Snacks: After she started to get the hang of it, I rewarded her with these organic treats.

+ Potty Training Magnetic Chart: My daughter had so much fun tracking her progress with this chart. *Bonus* when you are done training, you can use the fun character magnets on the fridge.

+ Underwear: We tried underwear for the first time on day two, and she had more accidents. Going commando worked much better. She started to wear underwear a couple of days after the three-day training.

+ Folding Travel Potty Seat: This is the best seat cover for public restrooms! It is an absolute must-have. I first line the seat with a disposable liner and then place the travel seat on top.

+ Car Potty: Opens quickly and easily for on-the-go potty emergencies.

+ Car Potty Disposable Liners: Simply line the travel potty and toss when finished. There is no need to clean or sanitize the potty.

+ Waterproof Crib Mattress Protector: We haven’t tackled overnight potty training yet, but we will definitely use these when that day comes.

+ Disposable Pee Pads: When my toddler was hanging out on the couch or floor, I placed one of these underneath her in case she had an accident.

Now gear up, grab a bottle of wine, and good luck training!
